WCA data project featured in NTEN’s Change Journal

We are THRILLED to have our data project, Children by the Numbers, featured in Change, the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN)‘s quarterly digital journal. Blog contributors Limarie Cabrera and Anna Wright provide a behind the scenes peek of our work.

Here’s a brief description of the article:

“Data can inspire people towards advocacy and action. From a 300-page research report to an engaging infographic and Children by the Numbers blog, the Westchester Children’s Association has transformed their data into stories that inform, engage, and empower their audiences to understand children’s lives in Westchester County, New York.”

  1. Speaking as a member of the NTEN: Change editorial committee, I am proud to have WCA’s data mastery featured in our journal. The Children by the Numbers Blog provides an excellent model for how data can help nonprofits both better understand and better meet the needs of their various constituent groups.

  2. What struck me the most about WCA’s Children by the Numbers blog is their overall journal to make their data digestible, and have it tell a clear story about children in Westchester County – from poverty levels to education. A lot of nonprofits and institutions spend so much time preparing valuable statistics, but don’t go the extra mile to synthesize it and make it reader-friendly. Really appreciated learning about their approach from a 300-page document to this important, reader-friendly piece.
