Rally to Celebrate Youth

On Wednesday, July 22, 2015, more than 150 young people, along with parents, program staff and allies gathered to celebrate youth and the programs that help them thrive. Hosted by Westchester Children’s Association and Campaign for Kids, the event celebrated the important contributions of young people and youth programs.

The afternoon of festivities included outstanding music and dance by the James Robinson Drum Corps/Cobra Performing Arts and Lord Judah/ H.I.P.H.O.P., as well as food from Walter’s Hot Dogs.

Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunket announced the County’s plan to form a planning group to examine and revamp the process by which youth funding is allocated, as recommended by the Campaign for Kids! The group will begin work in the fall.

Youth and staff from many organizations attended, including: Westchester Youth Councils, CLUSTER Community Services, Bravehearts, White Plains Youth Bureau, Youth Shelter Program of Westchester, Center for Human Options, Step Up for Girls, The Guidance Center, Theodore Young Community Center, WJCS, Student Advocacy, JCY, Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network, Westhab, and WCA.
