Frequently Asked Questions

Does WCA work directly with families and children?
WCA advocates for families and children, but does not provide direct services to families and children. WCA works to make sure that all children in Westchester are healthy, safe and prepared for life's challenges. We identify the unmet needs of Westchester's children, and we actively support and develop programs and policies to meet those needs.

Is WCA affiliated with any other organization?

WCA is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. WCA is a member of Voices for Americas Children, the national network of state and local child advocacy organizations.

How is WCA funded?

WCA is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization funded by individuals, foundations, businesses and community groups committed to improving the lives of Westchester's children. Special events provide needed funds to support the organization's advocacy work. WCA is also funded in part by income from trusts and an endowment. (See also How We are Funded)
