Our Statement on DACA

The decision by the Trump administration to end DACA has life-changing and potentially catastrophic consequences for hundreds of thousands of young people, often referred to as Dreamers, throughout our country. This includes as many as 8,000 DACA-eligible residents in Westchester.  Moreover, this decision is destabilizing for the families, employers, schools, and communities of DACA recipients.

Westchester Children’s Association believes that our nation is strongest when every young person has the opportunity to reach their potential and contribute to their community. The DACA program enables young Dreamers to fully participate in their education, work, and family life, and to contribute to our nation’s social fabric and economic engine.

We pledge to work with our partner organizations to seek and support common sense solutions that help Dreamers live in and contribute to our communities.
