Let’s Visualize what Chronic Absence Looks Like in Westchester

This post and the beautiful infographic were created by our fall intern, Sarah Aparicio. Sarah comes to us as a graduate student from the Hunter College where she studies Applied Social Research.

The first national chronic absence data set was recently released, and we examined how chronic absence affects Westchester students. Chronic absence is an important problem affecting many of students in our county. Chronic absence is linked to lower academic performance, and is an early predictor of high school dropout.¹ We are continuing to look at chronic absence and we plan to release additional attendance data by school in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Tell us what you think, we love feedback!
